About Disco Inferno

The Disco Inferno Band was formed approximately eight years ago. Disco Inferno is composed of ten (10) musicians and singers who capture the undeniable and contagious sound and rhythm of the 70's disco ord crowd performances at Ottawa University, drew more than a thousand (1,000) people for a performance at Gatineau's club "Le Houblon" and entertained more than seven thousand (7,000) cheerful spectators as the main feature entertainement for the "Hull en Fête" summer festival. In addition, our group has equally enjoyed the larger venues such as the "Grand évènement de la chanson international de Jonquière" by performing to a record audience of fifteen thousand (15,000) spectators, performed as opening act for "Sylvain Cossette" at the "Gatineau's Hot Air Balloon Festival" to an audience of approximately twenty five thousand (25,000) spectators and performed a sold out concert at the "Club Willy's" resulting in Disco Inferno Band accompanying such renowned artists as: Nanette Workman, George Thurston (Boule Noir), Nancy Dumais, Jodie Rhester and Martin Stevens. It is clear that through its members' demonstration of talent, energy and dynamics, Disco Inferno Band is a tantamount towards an event's success. Include The Disco Inferno Band in your next event planning and be prepared to relive this wonderful era. Watch us bring back the disco fever of the 70's to your celebration! We are presently accepting performance bookings for all types of occasions and celebrations (conventions, special events, festivals, private parties, etc).

Why Is Disco Still Thriving? For the simple reason that it never went anywhere and that it has been able to grow and change over the years. Of course it's great and has influenced all types of dance and popular music since. For all the criticism about Disco being phony, sounding all the same . . . it was for the most part created with actual instruments (even members of the LSO played Disco). Disco managed to incorporate emerging technology. Things that we now take for granted came about from the pioneering days of Disco. Such as the extended single, the concept of multiple mixes or remixes (which itself dates back to the 60's Dub scene in Jamaica), the Break, mixing between songs (as opposed to a simple segue) and sampling all came about or were popularized by Disco. It also brought about improvements in sound with the introduction of the higher fidelity twelve-inch single which is still with us today. More importantly, Disco is the foundation of all modern dance music and a force that shook up the establishment and tore down many socio-economic barriers. People of all incomes, races and sexual preference were able to enjoy Disco and have fun.
